Regarding the challenge:
Love is a topic so multifaceted, so complex; impacting all relationships, all aspects of life. It is a topic that is of such immeasurable importance and something I think so often about, in all of its contexts. This post was inspired by a challenge to write a poem about love in 10 lines of 4 words each, including the word ‘love’ in each line. I encourage you to take up the challenge if you’re interested too. I chose to write about true romantic/partnered love, but there are no limitations here.
The final part of the challenge involves sharing one’s favourite love quote to go with the poem. It was immensely hard to choose, because I’d guess that love is one of the most written about topics that exists, and there are so many that resonate with me….
Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies. ~ Aristotle
Unrequited sentiments fall gently,
In the truth of a moment in time.
Perfection for but a short interlude,
Punctuating the complexity of life’s struggles.
The intricacy of emotion comes not undone…
Rather, sentiments are placed gingerly on a high shelf.
Pausing, she sighs deeply yet contentedly.
Her lover was never truly close enough to touch.
